  • There are now beverage alcohol tariffs with the European Union. According to DISCUS President Chris Swonger, “The U.S.-EU spirits sector is the model for fair and reciprocal trade, having zero-for-zero tariffs since 1997. The U.S. spirits sector supports more than $200 billion in economic activity, 1.7 million jobs across production, distribution, hospitality and retail, and the purchase of 2.8 billion pounds of grains from American farmers. We urge President Trump to secure a spirits agreement with the EU to get us back to zero-for-zero tariffs, which will create U.S. jobs and increase manufacturing and exports for the American hospitality sector. We want toasts not tariffs.”

Yellowstone National Parks Conservation Association

Yellowstone National Parks Conservation Association

  • Yellowstone Bourbon has donated $1 million to the National Parks Conservation Association since 2018 with its most recent donation of $250,000.

  • The trade war is seriously impacting the smaller craft distilleries. According to Margie A.S Lehrman, CEO of the American Craft Spirits Association, “On behalf of our community of more than 3,000 independent craft distilleries, the American Craft Spirits Association (ACSA) remains deeply concerned about the ongoing and expanding number of trade disputes, now with the EU, UK, Canada, and Mexico. Our spirits have no connection to the ongoing trade disputes over steel and aluminum, yet our small business community—already struggling in a challenging marketplace—is being used as leverage. Craft spirits exports were ravaged by the trade wars in Trump's first term, especially among small distillers. They've seen very little recovery in the years since, and now that business is being ground down even further. The current events four years later are both unfair and unjust and we urge the Administration to advocate for a multilateral agreement that ensures the free trade of distilled spirits and begins to help America's small businesses, which are the backbone of the US economy. Our industry cannot afford another blow to our already struggling small businesses.”

  • Southern Distilling has formed Statesville Contract Distilling offering contract distilling in North Carolina.
