The Turkey Stuffer Cocktail
Confession time, I don’t like turkey. I do, however, love stuffing. It’s like semi-savory bread pudding, and it’s my favorite part of Thanksgiving. Stuffing, like many traditional Thanksgiving dishes, has a hint of sweetness while incorporating earthy and herbaceous tastes (like nuts and rosemary). In lieu of sugary pumpkin or apple heavy concoctions, here’s a creamy cocktail inspired by the balanced taste of stuffing.
The Turkey Stuffer
- 2 oz/ 60ml King’s County Chocolate Whiskey
- 1 oz/30 ml Owney’s Rosemary Flavored Rum (Editor's note: Owney's white rum won a silver medal in the 2013 NY International Spirits Competition)
- .5 oz/15 ml Simple syrup
- 4 Dashes Fee Brothers Black Walnut Bitters
- 2 oz/60 ml Whole Milk
- Dark chocolate for garnish
Combine all the ingredients except the chocolate in a shaker. Shake vigorously without ice (dry shake) for a few seconds, then add ice and shake again till frothy. Strain into glassware of your choice (I recommend a whisky tumbler or a lowball glass). Shave dark chocolate over the drink and serve to salivating guests.
Tip: If you can’t buy these exact products, shoot for a white rum and a basic american whiskey, then use a teaspoon each of rosemary and dark chocolate cordial.
