Goose Island Brewery
Goose Island Brewery
One of the things that I love about what I do is that I get to meet the brewers, the vinters and distillers at public and consumer events. I had the opportunity to meet Greg Hall at an event during New York Craft Beer Week at City Winery and he had no idea who I was and we just talked beer and the industry for a while. One of the interesting observations that came out of the conversation was that most of the beer we were tasting at the craft beer event did not even exist a year before. That craft brewers are being very creative and resourceful with their new beers. I must say I am happy with Greg's creativity!
Sofie: This was the first beer that I tried from Goose Island that made me really want to try the Goose Island portfolio. The beer is fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with orange peel. I really found it to be a amazing beer. Here is a video of Greg talking about the beer.
Bourbon County Coffee
Those who know me and read this website know I am a big bourbon fan. So I always try to check out anything bourbon related and or infused. Here Greg uses Bourbon Barrels to age the Imperial Coffee Stout beer. Now if you have the time and the space you can still cellar and age this beer up to 5 years which would be an interesting tasting experience since they tweak the recipe every year by using a different coffee blend from their next door neighbors...Intelligenstia Coffee & Tea.
